NTSA has moved most of its services online. Here's a full rundown of what you can do through eCitizen — without visiting an NTSA office.

The National Transport and Safety Authority has progressively moved its services online over the past several years. Most routine transactions can now be completed through the eCitizen portal or the NTSA TIMS portal at ntsa.go.ke. Here's a complete rundown.
Apply for a driving licence: First-time applicants must complete training at an NTSA-approved driving school, pass the theory test at an NTSA centre, and complete the practical test. The application is then submitted on eCitizen.
Renew a driving licence: Fully online via eCitizen. Three-year validity. Cost: KSh 3,050 for private categories. Processing: 5–10 working days. SMS notification when ready for collection.
Replace a lost or damaged licence: eCitizen → NTSA → Driving Licence → Replacement. Requires a police abstract for lost licences. Fee applies.
Check your driving licence status: Log in to eCitizen or visit ntsa.go.ke → TIMS → Driving Licence Verification to check validity and licence class.
Smart DL (digital driving licence): Kenya has been rolling out a smart driving licence card (similar to a bank card). If you renew now, you receive the smart card.
Vehicle search / verification: Search any registered vehicle by number plate to see registered owner details, vehicle specifications, and insurance status. Available at ntsa.go.ke without login.
Transfer of ownership: Buyer and seller both need eCitizen accounts. Seller initiates, buyer accepts, fee paid online. New logbook issued digitally.
Vehicle inspection booking: Book an appointment at an NTSA inspection centre via eCitizen.
Report a vehicle accident: Submit a police-accident report through the NTSA portal.
Check insurance validity: Kenya Impala computerised motor vehicle insurance checks are integrated with NTSA — insurance status is visible when you search a plate.
NTSA customer service: 0800 723 552 (toll-free) or 0709 032 000.
The eCitizen portal for NTSA services is at ecitizen.go.ke under the NTSA service category. The TIMS portal at ntsa.go.ke offers additional search and verification tools.
